Beginning December, 2014 I’m breaking this page out into two pages – one for Pony Pasture Flora and one for Pony Pasture Fauna. For the time being, everything is here.
If you click on the left hand column (Common name) it will go to a blog post with a picture. If you click on the right hand column (Scientific name) it will lead to a reputable source about that plant or animal. Not wikipedia.
I have great help for this site – and there is no way I could do this without it. First and most important are my friends Evelyn and Betsy and Kim and my sister Katie. They all spend a lot of time outdoors and they read a lot and most important are curious and pay attention. Being curious and paying close attention are the two key features for any naturalist. I have also gotten expert help from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, from the Virginia Tech Department of Forest Resources, from the James River Park System, and many more. There are plenty of mistakes on this site – and I made them all! When you find them, please bring them to my attention so I can correct them. And keep checking back!

Very nice! 🙂 Can’t wait to see it fill up!
I can’t wait to see it fill up either! Not a lot in the way of flowering plants or insects (or reptiles or amphibians) in December, but it’ll be fun to keep finding stuff. I’m looking forward to it!
